How it Works

  • Choosing a Mentor

As a mentee, you will choose your own mentor. You’ll read detailed bios that include Nation, region, areas of focus, and how each mentor prefers to connect. We believe mentorship begins with respect, shared experience, and a sense of alignment.

  • Moving at Your Own Pace

Every mentorship is different. Some may meet monthly, others might check in as needed. Some might share stories over tea, while others connect by phone or gather in community. There is no right way—only the way that works for you.

You will receive a Welcome Kit with space to create your own mentorship agreement together. This helps set clear expectations, but the relationship will evolve in the way that feels most meaningful to you both.

  • Bringing Culture and Community In

Mentorship is about more than midwifery. It is a space to share teachings, honour ceremony, speak language, and hold each other through hard things. You are welcome to involve Elders, knowledge keepers, or others from your circle of support.

  • Support Along the Way

We offer a Mentorship Welcome Kit to help you get started, scheduling tools to support check-ins on your own terms, and a shared space where Indigenous midwives can access stories, teachings, and tools held within the mentorship community. There are also optional community spaces where you can connect through recipes, seasonal teachings, and cultural gatherings.
